The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), a unique, non-profit, autonomous, regional multicultural graduate institution of higher learning based in Thailand, invites applications and nominations for the post of President. The term of the current incumbent President will finish on 15 July 2018.

The AIT’s mission is to develop highly qualified and committed professionals who will play a leading role in the sustainable development of the region and its integration into the global economy. The AIT supports the human resource needs of developing countries in Asia taking into account their specific development priorities, and other important social concerns. The Institute’s intention is to remain a leading multicultural regional institution of higher learning, offering state-of-the-art education, research and training in technology, management and societal development. The AIT has a current enrolment of around 2,000 master’s and doctoral students from 46 countries, mainly from Southeast and South Asia, but also increasingly from Central Asia and other parts of the world, learning and living together in a unique, multicultural environment, a multinational full-time faculty of more than 80 and adjunct faculty of more than 130, with sponsored and research projects of US$ 450 million. The AIT has a strong alumni body of more than 22,000 from 100 countries, and more than 30,000 short-course alumni. The AIT boasts of more than 200 academic partnerships, and has achieved QS Global top ranking in 3 subjects.

The President is the chief academic and chief executive officer of the Institute and is responsible for the overall conduct of its affairs, overseen by an international Board of Trustees. This is a unique and challenging opportunity for the right individual to lead a prestigious graduate institution with the ability to make a significant impact on graduate education in Asia. Qualified candidates will have the following profile: a thorough understanding of AIT and Asian countries: the past, the present and possessing a practical vision of AIT’s Future; possess a broad vision of science and technology in society and regional sustainable development as relevant to Asia; have knowledge of culture, economic and political landscape, and sound/robust understanding of the technical world in which we live; experience in fund raising; administration and/or business development; and business administration; possess leadership skills including the ability to: lead and listen, create consensus quickly and fairly, and act decisively and boldly with this support; determination to vigorously pursue and expand ongoing programs and administrative reforms to achieve a sustainable future for the Institute; and preferably with doctorate degree.

The term of office of the President is four years, renewable by approval of the Board for a maximum of one further term of the same duration.
